The Color Scheme of each peice was dictated by nature. No paint,dye or stain was applied. No spray pr lacquer was used to acheive the shine and dazzle in each carving. Each peiece of hardwood used has been air dried for between two to five years . After hand carving hammer,chisels and a variety of of carving knives, the wood is now thoroughly sanded by hand. Various grades of sand paper are used from the very coarse to the finest grit. The sanding process is repeated for hours over a few days to several months depending on the size and level of detail on the individual piece to acheive the incredible level of hand finishing you see. Most of our wood carvings are made of EBONY, a very hard wood primarily found in the Tropics. It is dark in color and varies from deep black to dark red among other colors. Moisture,mineral content of the soil and the age of the tree are some of the factors that determine coloration. It is usually darker on the inside and inside lighter on the outside.
